So I got a used Fluval 405 and 304 on craigslist for $100 total. I'm cleaning it all up though, and this piece looks funky. It is one single piece that is molded together at the top. The instructions I found online (for the 405) don't show this assembly as being one piece. Is that normal? Its so discolored and funky that I think I'm just going to replace it anyway but was curious.

An even better question would be, if I wanted to replace the intake assembly and output assembly (probably with a spraybar), what parts do I need? I mean obviously I need the intake tube and spraybar, but I can't find that piece that they hook into.

I pulled that intake tube and output nozzle out and I'm still left with that piece that I can't find on any websites. Should I just ditch it and use the hose adaptors to run the hoses straight into the new intake and output tubes Ill be getting?

And what is this for? Dont see where this bigger clamp style piece should be going to

I have a 205, and havn't seen any of that before. Mine, although could be different on the bigger ones, it has inlet and outlet seperate, comes with a piece the tube goes through and slides over the sides of the tank and held on using suckers. (if that makes sense).

Sorry I couldn't help more. Good luck

EDIT: Sorry you were talking about the 304, can't help at all I'm afraid

If I remember right that intake/output assemply is the original version of the 04 line (they changed it at least once before they came out with the 05 line).

That last pic is some DIY mod, not a standard Fluval attachment. He may have had it hooked up to something else (like a UV).

Fluval makes a spray bar for their canisters, it attached to the tubing just like their return nozzle.
