Got home from work and noticed this Amano shrimp at the top under the floating plants with this black lump kind of things

Am I right in thinking it is pregnant

Unfortunately Amano shrimplets won't survive in freshwater, so don't get your hopes up

Ah I donโ€™t mind that I was just checking to see if thatโ€™s what it was or if there was something wrong

Oh I see. On closer inspection, I think it's a male ๐Ÿ˜ณ it's hard to see with the lighting but females have dashes along their bodies, males have dots

I will see if I can get a better picture

Very good, yes it's female and she's got a heck load of eggs on her...otherwise known as 'berried'

As I realise they wonโ€™t survive what will happen to them will the fish eat them up or will I need to do water changes to get them or or just leave it, yer I did think there was a lot

She'll release them when the larvae hatch. My fish buffet on them so yours probably will too
