I'm happy you said its a good one to buy,
I was also going to buy a different reactor as I have external cannister,

Im umming and arring if I should buy a rich substrate, to put under my black gravel
My main concern is I'll make a huge mess when planting or is it meant to mix in nicely,
I was just going to use Root tabs,
and have a big amazon sword in the middle and carpet with Dwar haird grass and some other stuff when i think of it,:p
Hindsight is the most common user of this forum, and I hate him!!! I'm always thinking 'god if only I knew then what I do now I'd do it different', I'm sure everyone on hear does that and always will :S

If I did it again I would definitely have something under my sand, but I didn't know then. So we followed the stupid lfs advice and just used the fertiliser sticks. I'm sure they are doing their job but in order for us to have the relevant substrate under the sand now would be a big job and with all the changing and buying I'm constantly doing, my g/f would loose it and we would end up having a visit from Columbo

I can't comment on this one, but will be reading reviews from others on this. Glad I could help on the CO2 system front though.

Good luck :good:

My g/f is getting that way with me.

Edit: I have fine black gravel and think If I get a black nutrient Substrate for my plant it should look okay,
no matter how mixed in it gets..

Indeed I agree. Have you got fish at the moment? If not, some Cardinals would look great with that black gravel eh :)

PS My g/f isn't too bad, she just can't keep up with the learning curve. She was suppose to do the plant life whilst I did the fish etc but now I've taken over the plant side of things as she's too slow

Mine aint interested :p

I actually have 3 tanks
two of them 3ft and one is 2ft

My tank currently.

I need to read more about substrate to learn what is best for me,
and from what I gather if you dont use a substrate you will need to use EI

maybe Tertra complete will do for me, as I plan to cover the base with a carpet (dwarf hair grass) I assume I dont need to place any gravel on it as this is pre mixed...

Yeah thought so. I put the EI link in my signature mainly for me  Once I get the external reactor and lily pipe I'm going to read up as my plants are looking a little sorry for themselves and what I can make out is for starters that they are low on iron and potassium so I am using a liquid from the lfs until I get the EI in to gear.
