Is This Algae?

There are little white hairs on the insides of my tanks. They are really small so not very big. They wave with the current and are not extremely tightly packed. When they are left for a while they grow more and turn slightly green.

Just checking what his is and how would I get rid of it?

Let me guess.

Its appears on a small roundish area (say up to about a 10cm diameter) on your tank glass opposite & in-line with the outlet of your filter? Also possibly appearing on a side piece of glass too, horizontally to the left / right of that patch?

No chance of a photo until my dad actually charges the camera..

No it's growing on all the of tank walls.

And in my 35L too since I transferred tank water + media.

OK, I thought it was this:

Do you have a filter that uses that white floss wool stuff - the first 'mechanical' filter stage usually. I thought it was just loose bits of white fluff from this sponge gradually attaching to the surface of your tank glass getting blown there by the flow of water from the filter - it happens with me, but only because (I think) I have an external Eheim that outputs a good stong flow with good direction and therefore 'concentrates' the build up of fluff on the tank wall opposite.

If I'm in my lazy mode (99% of the time then), if I don't clean it off it acts like an attractant to a small amount of algae & it starts going ever so slightly green. BTW I have alot of plants crammed into my small tank with staggeringly rampant groth for a low tech, non-EI, no CO2 low(ish) light set up.

Well I do have flossy stuff.

But it was there even before I put it in.
