Is This A Horrible Idea?

first of all,can guppies and bettas be together at all?i want to move my betta in with 2 guppies in a 10g tank.
will the betta rip the guppies apart? ive heard of people putting the two together, but does it really work?

It worked for me one time, but that was a very special betta. The over all consensus is, no, it is very risky.

Hi, are they fancy guppies? If you have to have them together, make sure you have lots of hiding places for the guppies.....is your Betta aggressive or somewhat peaceful? I have known people to have guppies with a Betta, but they were not fancy guppies....in other words they didn't resemble a Betta at all...no long flowing fins etc....it can be done, but it's risky.

If you do decide to attempt this, make sure you have a back up tank, if anything goes wrong.

it would really be better if they were female guppies.

one is a half black female, ones a yellow male.my betta is not aggressive to his current tank mates, i even think that THEY are nipping at HIM.
there are lots of artificial plants in the tank, as well as a barrel hiding spot. should i put him in there?

I would watch them closely for a while if you do put them together......

 I have endler guppy's in my betta tank and its been fine for a few months now so mine worked, but I don't think it would work with fancy guppies, I started off with a tank divider in the tank just to be safe.

he chases

oops

i mean, he kind of chases them sometimes, but for only about 3 inches through the tank, then he just looses interest for a while.
is that a good sign?

well, chasing is a sign of agression, not a good sign

hes never actually touched the guppies yet. and hes getting calmer in his new home
