I set up a new tank today, I have 4 approx 2" fish in there. I just filled it straight from the tap. The problem is after a couple of hours the fish stopped swimming about

did you de-chlor the water?

heating?

filtration?

water parameters?

Think your fish has stopped swimming due to lack of energy....

I'd recommend you do a 100% battery change as soon as possible,

If I put an FX6 filter on there, would I need to do a battery change

Oooh, you had me confused and discombobulated there for a minute, Star!

I don't think you'd need batteries with an FX5, I think the fish would be moving round just fine

I think your problem is those are marine fish and you have put them in fresh water

I had a battery powered aquarium for a while; I wish I still had it, I've never seen one as nice since.

In mine, you had to actually make up salt water to put in it (so the fish didn't all sink), which was fun (it only held about a pint of water) and there were a few different species. I remember I had two clownfish (a black and white and a red and white) a powder blue surgeon, and a Moorish idol.

The thing I liked most was, I suppose because of their slightly different shapes, they actually behaved differently! The clowns sort of went round and round a piece of coral, while the surgeon stayed mostly up at the other end and the Moorish idol used to swim from side to side!

They are actually rather good, I was thinking of getting one as a companion for Rusty my oscar, but I could see him trying to eat one of these. lol

haha i was a little concerned about your fish at first! well done, that made me chuckle :)

Hmm, your fish's heads are pointing down which could be a result of swim bladder issues. They may be gulping at the surface when eating.
I find when I soak my fish food in water for about 10-20 seconds it will help them not gulp.
What do you feed them?

Haha i read the post then read the profile name..... something smelt fishy!!

I do wonder how many people were ready to shout at me about an 8L tank
