I've inherited these plants from a second-hand tank and they had to live in a bucket of water for a few days. They pretty much melted completely away while in the bucket. I've cut back a huge amount of stems but haven't been able to bring myself to cut all of the melting leaves because there would be nothing left. It's dumb because they are eventually going to fall to bits anyway! Will they be able to grow back if all of the leaves on a plant are gone? I've got some TPN that I can dose with and I did put a half dose in yesterday when they got added to the tank. There are no fish in the tank at the moment.

I'm planning on adding a decent amount of wood to the tank and as I'm thinking these are all going to die I've been looking at replacements but I am completely stumped as to the quantity I should get.

The plants I like are:
Amazon Sword
Baby Tears
Twisted Vallis
Java Fern

I've been looking on Aquamania

I'm not going for a jungle look, I'd like to have a relatively open foreground and my main goal is to emphasise the colour contrast between the black, green and red/brown of the mopani wood (which means I want to keep the wood mostly exposed).

Would you mind giving me an idea of how much to buy? I've never even seen these plants in real life lol

Here's the tank. The hardscape won't be like in the picture but it'll probably be similar.

Sorry for going off the subject, but your tanks going to look amazing. You definitely have style ;)

Thank you danele - you have no idea how much I needed a little boost right now haha :p

they look like crypts so they'll soon grow back. :)

Thanks steveo what a relief! - do I cut them back the rest of the way? If yes, how low to I cut them? I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing before lol

Those plants look like cryptocrynes, which when moved go through a wilt. They will melt to nothing and start sending up new leaves in a few weeks.

Pull off the leaves and them stem will come with it, I'd suggest this if the stem becomes brown and brittle tho so as not to uproot the whole plant, if you leave them then your gonna get an ammonia spike.
