The title says it all....

Is there any other product like Bio-Spira that works good?

I searched all my LFS within a 25 mile range from me, and i cant find ANYONE that sells it...

Is there any other product that works like bio-spira does?

Bio-Spira is live bacteria yes? If so, then get to a Maidenhead Aquatics a buy a product called bactinettes.. allows near-instant stocking of aquariums... has to be kept in the freezer and an astounding product!

I'm in the USA... and i never heard of Maidenhead Aquatics, nor that product...

And yes, im looking for a product that has to kept refridgrated, but NOT frozen (with bio-spira if u freeze it, its no good).

Anyone know what other products are good to buy?

What about "Tetra SafeStart"? is that product any good?

OK, that's fine. Maidenhead Aquatics is an aquatic chain in the UK.

Tetra Safestart is one of the better shelf-products. Still can't beat the live-bacteria but Tetra Safestart is a good replacement.

how would tetra safestart be better than say, hagen cycle, if it's just a shelf product and not refrigerated?

It won't work anywhere near as well as live bacteria. Tetra Safestart does contain strains of live bacteria. However, true live bacteria will only have a lifespan of about 6 weeks, and that's if it's kept in the fridge. If your looking for an instant source of maturity in the tank then your best bet is too get some mature media off somebody or try to find another brand of live bacteria.

The problem with Tetra Safestart is it is a lot like Nutrafin/Hagen Cycle in that it works by putting 'controlled' waste into the aquarium, therefore providing food for the bacteria too grow. However, for a solid number of live bacteria to have grown it would take 2-3 weeks.

Could someone tell me what the next best product vs. bio-spira is?

I want something that is live bacteria...

Could someone point me to a website that sells the "Fritz TURBO START"? i been looking for the past hour on google, and yahoo, and many other places, and i cant find much...

Many thanks!

In the future, it might help with questions like this to include where you are from or add your country in your profile to get a quicker response.
