I always use Seachem Prime when doing my water changes, the reason being I have read and also been told it is the best one to use, my question:

Is there another alternative that is a bit cheaper than Prime that does exactly the same job?

Prime might cost a bit more, but lasts a whole lot longer than anything else I have seen because you need so little of it, so if you look at it in terms of cost per water change I think you will struggle to find better IMO.

My LFS doesn't stock it for this reason - They can make more money by selling the stuff you need more volume of cheaper by the bottle, but people end up paying more as they have to buy it more often.

You could always look at pond dechlorinators; they usually work out a lot cheap than aquarium ones.

I buy a 2 litre of Nutrafin on ebay or amazon for about £20 or less (depending who has it at the moment I want it)... lasts me a good long time.
