I have just ordered the Tetra AquaArt 60L Tropical Aquarium, Dimensions: Height 35cm (14”) x 57cm wide (22.5”) x 30cm (12”) deep. i was just wondering if that is a good size tank to start off with, and was also wondering how many fish roughly can tha tank hold, thanks.

It all depends on what you want to keep.

Maybe get a shoal of tetra? a few corys for the bottom?

Its a good tank to start off with but you will soon find you'll be wanting a larger tank.... we've all done it lol

as said it depends on what you like, i have 3 tanks of this size currently with various fish (mainly Bettas/Siamese Fighter Fish) there are plenty of options :good:

i dont mind what i have really, just trying to find out which are best to start off with and how many should i get at first.

yea i know about the cycling, gona start it when i get the tank, then the fish after like 4 weeks or when it finished cycling, thanks

molly's are nice fish i currently have 2 dalmation mollys

although depends on what your setup is going to be because so im told molly's are brackish water fish which means they require a bit of salt in the water a few fish are like that

but, i have 2 mollies in freshwater with no salt and apart from one having a bit of what a belive is white spot on one of them they are fine

so do some research on some fish you like make sure they are conpatable with other fish you wish to have in the tank and look for what kind of water chemistry they do well in and adjust your tank to suit your needs

the general fule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon but i think most people go off two inch of fish per gallon of water (please feel free to correct me if i am wrong that was a quick google search) :)

yea i was thinking mabye sum mollys. i have bin looking at the site www.aquaticstoyourdoor.co.uk they give you very good info on which fish are easy to look after, and which are compatible with each other, and lots of other info, very helpfull site

what about some Sunset Platy's? i dont know much about them so ask around or look on the website you have and see what it says i know they lovely looking fish with a nice orange to the sunset ones

mickey mouse platy's look nice aswell

if you get mollys prepare for babies! i love them but got fed up with the constant breeding and rehoming. plus i think they do need to salt to be fully healthy and reach their full age. my 50L holds a few glowlight tetra, corys and shrimp so lots going on on different levels

yeh sorry forgot to mention that mollies breed like hell, and if u get a female from a pet store its a good chance shes already pregnant just like mine i took her back and they swapped her for another male so i suppose if u want mollies but no babys just get a few males they are easy to tell apart by there size and there fin size

they do all breed like mad! you have to be real carefull about ratio's I unfortunatly managed to get 2 platy males to one female platy and all they did was hound her! I felt so sorry for her, she couldnt escape anywhere! Mollies are just as bad, so definatly more females to males! In regards to breeding they dont seem to have a problem with eating their own fry, its quite depressing realy, I saw my lovely molly give birth and within seconds they get munched, it does stop the over crowding but its not that nice to watch in my opinion! they are greedy fish also, please dont let me put you off they are lovely, especialy as a starter fish! very hardy
Corydoras are gorgous little creatures! they have real personalities and are great at cleaning! thye are uite sensitive to dirty water though!

good luck with your fishies and tank :)
