Is she Pregnant?????

hello. One of my female platties has a dark spot, really dark, above her anal fin. I thought it was a gravid spot. I bought her about a week ago and noticed it. It's still there. SHe was never fat like my other females, but she is bigger - older - in length and height. Could she be pregnant. Could it just be poos. Do they get dark spots when they're due for a toilet stop?? The dark mark has been there for the whole week though.
Please tell me. I want lots of babies and I'd love to know if I'm going to get more out of this fishY

sounds like she pregnant but id just keep an eye on it to make sure.

Usually the gravid spot (if thats what it is) is there for nearly 4 weeks while the fry develop in the mother

How come everyone says that it's only there for the last 24 hours or so before birth?
That was why I was wondering why it was there.
Do you have platties? do they have gravid spots for that long?
My fish is a grey colour, so it's kinda easy to see though. I guess I'll just keep watching her then.
On a bright orange/red plattie, does the gravid spot still show up dark or not really.

Sometimes, fish get pregnant and then loose their babies for some reason.....keep an eye on it...

my plattie died. I couldn't find her then I found her in a crevice under a rock.
Why did she die? I had a look at her and the 'gravid spot' or what ever it was wasn't there. is this cause she died giving birth or would it just be cause she was dead.
I was looking cause I wanted to see if that was what it was. But I don't know cause platties are all new to me.
Can someone help me?
