Is Pvc Aquarium Safe?

Hi,

I'm working on a filter project for my tank, and need to get hold of some reasonable 15-22mm plumbing.

On ebay they have specialist aquarium safe plumbing but it's really expensive.
So i started looking into using standard PVC plumbing.

but someone on a forum claimed it leeches chlorine into the tank!
Does anyone know if this is true?

What have other people used?

It will be fine, I know of loads of people that use it for sumps, don't worry about it leaching chlorine, the chlorine is covalently bonded to the carbon that makes up part of the Polymer, and the bond is hard to break, so it wont leak chlorine.

Do i need to be careful about which PVC cement i use?
or are they all the same?

are we talking standard plumbing kit?? why not use push fits easy to strip down again if you need to.

Nice idea, i intended on using the push fit stuff at first, but with the amount of fittings i need it quickly became very expensive.
That why I'm sticking to the standard issue stuff.
Plus i think the push fit fittings would be quite difficult to clean, but not too sure.
