It's fairly common for RTBS to have white bits on the very tips of their fins if they're kept in unfavourable conditions.

very unoticable white

Do yoiu mean you can / can't see them?

What are your water stats?

I'd have to disagree, all my reds are more than happy (judging by the pitch black colour and vivid red tails), my adult doesnt have white tipes, but my three juvies do, some in shops have them, others in the same tank dont, as far as I can discern thay are general markings that vary in size that some redtails have and some dont.

As for the other issue, my adult used to be a bit of a clutz until I brought her a larger log, she often bumped herself on highspeed entry  , and ended up scrapping some scales off , this looks a whiteish/grey. Otherwise my thoughts would be

a-ich, small white dots

b-fungus often has a fluffy cotton wool look to it

hope this helps

ok ya its definalty not little white dots on the body it ight just be from him fighting or playing not sure with my dwarf suckrmouth catfish and ruinging into things but the wite on its tail doesnt seem to bother him and sry dont test my water b/c my grandpa didnt and hes kept fish for over 60 years and never had problems though i might sometime if i buy some

but the wite on its tail
Darn you said fins before, I though you were meaning the dorsal and pelvic fins, ifs its white on the tail, ie the red bit, all bets are off thats fin rot. Get some anti-fungal meds and possible some melafix and start tratment.

Fin rot is usually caused by one of 2 things - bad water or stress
