Is My Guppy Pregnant

[help me]

i brought guppies around 3 and a half weeks ago, i can notice a dark spot on her back, i want to know is she pregnant, if she is how many days/ weeks until she will give birth.

i also want to know when i should put my female in the breeding trap.

Yes, female guppies will get very large and have a large dark "gravid" area before releasing fry. No telling when. How big and pregnant they look before having them will vary depending on the age of the female. At some point you just have to guess at when to put them in.

Guppies, like many other livebearers (for instance, swords, mollies, platies, endlers) will have babies nearly constantly and one needs to plan ahead for the increased bioload on the filtration system and the possible need for eventually re-homeing fish. In a community tank, one approach can be to allow the fry to mix in the community tank and let nature take its course, lowering the overall numbers that make it through to larger sizes.
