So far i have not been able to catch on give birth. This is my favorite guppy (she's a blue mosccow so would love to catch her fry). In the last hour she has been trying to hide behind the breeding net (i have another very large guppy who is in the net), she's squared off and it looks like her tube has opened but her gravid spot has changed colour from black to orange, is this normal? i'm worried as she doesnt seem very active. I have put her in the net (and kicked the other one out) and she's near the top of the water and doesn't look well (hardly moving). Is she about to have fry or is she poorly?

The other guppies have been pestering her a bit and nipping her tail. I have turned the light off and covered one side of the tank so she can relax a little, just worried she will die (she's my only blue m female).

Just checked on her and she's dead :( so sad (RIP fishy).

I lost a molly like this a few days ago (he hid and then died), not a mark on either of them, her gravid spot was red so not sure if maybe it was a complication with pregnancy.

Water was tested yesterday and my nitrates were 0, everything else was fine.

I'm now going to have to find another blue female to breed with my 2 mosccow blue males (took me ages to find her).

The others probably harassed her to death. Happened to me once too. The others are waiting for her to give birth so they can eat her fry as soon as they come out. Its quite unfortunate, sorry for your loss. :(

You could be right, they had been hastling her for a while and her tail had been nipped, i think i may have to reduce my males as i have too many in the tank, either that or i up my females but i will then end up with far too many fry.
