hi, i just set up another tank in my living room. its a juwel rekord 800 120L. i have a green severen and 4 gourami's. the water quality is spot on and has been monitored closely. today we added the fish an all seems well other than the gold gourami lays over the filter where the pump sucks in water. it's like the fish is being sucked up by the filter. the fish will only move if i distured it. why does the fish do this. is this normal?

Thanks

Ant

Um not that is not normal at all. I would move the fish and cover up the filter inlet immediately

unfortunatly shortly after i posted the message the fish died. im just gonna have to put it down to a sick fish as he was only in the tank for a max of 3 hours, all the other fish are fine and behaving normally. it could just be that it had a knock or somethin when the guy was cathcing it in the shop.

thanks for your help

Hi antb1983, I'm not familiar with your threads, so am wondering how your fishless cycle finished up. During the last week of fishless cycling after you added 5ppm of household ammonia was the filter able to drop this to zero ppm of ammonia and zero ppm of nitrite(NO2) (as measured by a liquid test kit) withing 12 hours or less?

That would be the test of whether the biofilter was ready for the first fish introduction. Did you have very high nitrates prior to the big water change?
