Now its itting on the bottom breathing rapidly!!! and not moving!! what do I do?!?! Please help!! " (this was last night)

"Ph Down
Bullseye 7.0
Wardly's Bio Phosphate ?spelling?name? ( btw this is what i used when I lowered the Ph in my tank.)"

I am thinking that Ph stuff that lowers it is the culprit. I was told by a LFS to pinch and add very little at a time. I pinced and added. Do you think that he could have eatten some? I dont want my fishy to die :-(

What was the pH before you added that and what was it after you added it? A quick pH change is definately not good for fish .

It was 7.2 before now as of 30 minutes ago it was 7.4 ish if not a tad lower..
I came up with a theroy...tell me if this may be it...

There are two danios in the tank used for cycling (unfortunatly I lost 6 others becuase I did not know all of the wonderfull info you all have here : :( )

One danio is very much a bully and the other is very submissive. When I stand away from the tank he is better , still skiddish,. When I come closer thats when he losses it her starts zipping around untill he finally starts to hypervenilate behing a plant. Could this be it? because they are a shoaling fish and ther is only 2 with little hiding area's? Thanks in advance.

Well I am going to bed for now I will retest my tank when I wake up. I will let you all know the reasings then..

pH Down is hideous stuff for killing fish IMHO. I don't think you should touch your pH at all - Danios are tough and can cope with any pH, but they can't cope with a wildly varying pH.

Don't replace the pH buffer stuff and get it out of your water by regular water changes. You'd find pretty quickly that your fish will adapt and will be absolutely fine.
