Ive been doing a fishless cycle for over 2 months now and the filters now eating about 4ppm ammonia in 12 hours, is this enough? My nitrates are 160!! and my nitrites are always back to 0 aswell. The first fish im planning on addin are 2 black neons, 12 harlequin rasboras, 3 guppies and 3 platy fry. The guppies and platy fry will only be in there temporarily as im using their tank for a quarantine atm and for the harlequins, it doesnt have to be 12 can be less? Or is it cycled enough to add more than that?
So overall just would like to know if my tank is cycled enough to add however many fish?
thanks :)

why only 2 black neons? schooling fish, need 6+
oh yeh sorry didnt explain, i have 2 of them in my 80 liter so im going to move them to this tank for now then once the 80 liters sorted either move them back and get more or leave them there and get more :)

bump, sorry i need to know soon-ish so that if it is then i can do the water change today when i have time and when im at my lfs tomorrow buy some fish if its not then its fine since next time im at my lfs is 3 weeks from now which should be enough time for the filter to build up more bacteria
thank you

a week of ammonia and nitrite going to 0 after 12 hours. its all listed in the fishless cycling thread in the beginners section, all the answers are in there, link is in my sig.

Congratulations!

Enjoy choosing your new fish; do you know what you're going to be getting?

Congrats and well done! I've never done a fishless cycle before, sounds too complicated for my brain. Thankfully I always have mature media to move around.

this is my first fishless cycle, my first tracked cycle actually, before i just did the newbie thing and stuck the fish in and left them to it, no testing the water  hahah im so excited :D My updated plans for stocking are in the link in my sig :)

noo, my stats keep registering ammonia :( why is this? did i add too many fish at once? is it normal? The day i got the all go on here, i added 5 fish then bought more the next day, 12 harlequins,10 cardinals and 3 glass cats. the next morning there was 0.5 ammonia so i did a 50% WC and they dropped back to 0. Since thn 8 cardinals and glass cats have died from shock but thats a different post. I just tested the water now and the ammonia is at 0.25 again but i cant do another WC till tomorrow now

were both your ammonia AND Nitrite going back to 0 in 12 hours! ???
