Hi,
I took some photos of my fish for the first time tonight and i was disturbed when i looked at this one, is he ill?

He is still eating and acting normal, to the naked eye he looks normal (i cannot see the odd colours shown in the pic), could this just be an off photo?

As a precaution I have put them in the quarantine tank and treating with meds, so what disease do you think this is?

looks like some sort of reflection
did you use a flash to take this
photo

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, yes i did use a flash (nikon D60 with standard flash set to full power).

i think it a reflection
from the flash if you cant
see it with the naked eye
only infrared and ultraviolet
cameras can show things up that
are going on under the skin

It definately was an illness, it has been going down hill. It looks thinner now amd is breathing very heavily. It spends most of its time resting at the bottom of the tank and struggles to swim.

I have been using Waterlife treatment however I seem to be getting nowhere, can anyone help or is it better to put it out of its misery?

sounds like hes as only gone
down hill since you moved him
to the Q/T and started treating
with meds is the med copper based
whats does it say about marines on it

It says that it can be used with marine fish (FOWLR systems only). I dont believe it contains copper, I will check when I get home. I am at the end of the 5 day treatment, so I will leave it 48 hours and then do a half tank water change.

I have heard about fresh water baths - what is this and how do you do it?

I treated the fish last night with protozoan for a hour in a seperate bucked and so far the fish seems a little better.

if you cant see it with the naked eye id have left it be.

make sure there loads of surface movement/air stone in the tank hes in as meds tend to take oxygen out the water. pronably why it was breathing heavy/struggeling

Thanks the help, I have now setup an airstone in the quaratine tank as I only have a protein skimmer in the main tank, this seems to have helped.

The fish does seem to be getting better, its colour has become much more vibrant, it does not seem to be gasping for air as much and is swimming around and eating much more now. Please note that the other clown has never looked like it was gasping for air in the quaratine tank.

For last three days I have been using the protizene medicine and have now done a half tank water change, I am now going to give the meds a rest for a few days and see how the fish gets on.

Good news the clown is still doing well, so well I put it back into the main tank several days ago and still seems well and happy, once again thanks for the help.
