Hope you can help - I have a black male and female Black Molly and over the last few weeks, the male has been ''paying alot of attention to the females rear end!'' for the last few days, the male has now stoppped doing this and today, the female is simply resting on the reeds, 'panting' and has doubled in size feeling she may be pregnant?!?

is she??

any ideas?? if she is, when do i put her in a seperation booth? procedures??

many thanks guys, im pretty new at all this lol !! :good: :hyper:

Welcome to the forum Sxad.
A molly female that has grown a lot in size and is no longer swimming energetically as she was accustomed, is often getting near a drop. I try to judge my mollies by their shape more than anything else. I have a reference to another thread in my signature area that describes a molly's progression from one drop to the next and has lots of pictures. When I created the thread, the idea was to let people compare what they see in their own tanks to what I could see in the pictures of my molly. You are the one on the scene, so to speak, who can best judge where in the process your female might be. Please let us help you more by getting some decent pictures of your own molly.
I do have a few questions for you.
How much cover do you have in the tank for the fry to hide in?
How long has the tank been set up and what did you do to prepare it for new fish?
Do you have a place to sell or give away your molly fry after they are dropped and grow up a bit?
