Is My Betta Ill?

Well i got my Betta yesterday, and I was watching him last night and it seems that around his gills are cut He was flaring and they stuck out and looked very sore. I don't know if this is norml for Betta's as this is my first. Also when he is breathing you can see like inside bits coming out of his gills if that makes sense? Also it looks like a cut on his gills. I tried to record a video for you to see, let me know if this is normal Betta or he is ill

The bit you can see coming out from his gills is his "beard" - they flare and stick their beard out to make them appear bigger to scare off other males.
