Hi, I bougt a Betta Splendes Male fish 5 weeks ago. The first month it was eating its food and it was happy in its tank. Yesterday it lied down on the tank and
did not respond when I toutched it. It looked like it fainted. Today its awake but its fins are teared. I searched it online and I think he has fin rot.
Here's a picture:

Because I don't know much about fish could you tell me if he has fish rot and what to do?

Id say he was a Crowntail betta. Nothing to worry about. Its just a tailtype.
Just keep a close eye on him though.

Welcome to TFF :)

I suggest reposting that here!

Did his fins used to be all in one piece, or did he have "spikey" fins like that when you got him?

If he had finrot, I'd expect to see red, white or black edges to his fins. Keep an eye on him, make sure his water is super clean (you will probably want to do a small water change every couple of days until he looks better) and add a small dose of aquarium salts (you can find these at a local aquatics store).

The thing I am worried about is the fact that his belly (just behind his head, where his front fins are) looks really bloated and distended. Had he just eaten, or does his belly look like a lot of the time? It could be a sign of an internal bacterial infection, a parasite or constipation. If one of these is the case, that might explain his sudden lethargy and fragility.

So keep his water super clean with extra water changes, add a teeny bit of salt and keep an eye on him. Maybe don't feed him for a couple of days and then see if the swelling goes down. Try some tiny bits of deshelled, cooked pea after a couple of days fast.

Good luck!

Let me try to help a bit. This is your picture.

It does look like a crowntail to me but just laying around in the tank is never a good sign for a fish. Have you checked your water for ammonia or nitrite build up? In any concentration over 0.25 ppm, these chemicals can affect the fish and cause them to become sluggish. I would do a 50% water change just in case that is the problem if you do not have a test kit yet. If you see the fish improve somewhat, do another change the same size the next day to get your betta on the road to recovery. It can take over 2 months for the tank's filter to mature enough to keep your betta healthy. During that time, any indication of poor conditions should be met with a large water change using dechlorinated water.
