It's kind of cold in my house because it's winter time. Tomorrows a school day and i'll have to leave her by herself in her bowl. I just got her and i'm already attached. When I touch the outside of her bowl, it's really cold (definetly less than 65degrees). While i'm not home I can't leave a light on for her. Is she going to die from the cold? :-(

i hate to be a downer, but she may. you may want to find a light to leave on while you're at school.

Is there anywhere in the house at all that stays warm all day? If not, you could try wrapping the bowl in something warm just until you get a heater. It might be an idea to have a word with your parents to see if they can suggest anywhere. :/

Do you have a desk lamp that u could leave on? My male is in a 1 gallon bowl, and during the day I turn on a desk lamp right over his water, and it keeps the temp at a realitivly steady 76 degrees. And at night when the lights out I just keep the temp in the room around 75. Good luck :good:

When I first got my betta, I was living alone in a very cold flat.

I went out for the day in winter, came back and he had lost all of his colour and was lying on the bottom. I thought he was dead or close to it.

I was devistated so I quickly added some warmish water to the bowl and up he perked straight away and was very happy.

Then I moved back to my parents, got him a bigger tank, it was never heated (never knew they liked warm water), but he loved it and lived 3yrs.

So I hope she survives.

Thanks everybody. I put her bowl on top of the refrigerator because our kitchen is the warmest place in the house and my mom says more heat circulates near the ceiling so I hope this works.
