It is possible for a 5 month old female guppy to be pregnant? One of my young guppies havs been looking very plump lately and she has a dark (gravid?) spot. My 29 gallon gallon tank contains a bunch of fry from various batchs, including a few young males. I haven't seen any of the males go after the females yet, but I'm concerneded about my female guppy because she just looks pregnant! If she is carrying babies, is there anything I can do to ensure that she has a safe delivery becasue she's still at a young age?
I read some where that they can have their own babies when they are just 4 months old so if she is 5 months old then she probably is preghnat she is not to young.
I have a 5 month old guppy thats pregnant as well, but its takin her forever to have her fry, but anyway...theres a way to tell if shes pregnant, if her belly is kinda squarish looking, then shes pregnant, if its just round than its not, i have a sunset platy that i thought was pregnant so i put her in a seperate tank and after awhile she wasnt having any fry but she still had a gravid spot (i guess females always have gravid spots even if their not pregnant) so i moved her back and realized she was just fat haha, but anyway, if her gravid spot is really dark and her belly is squarish then she's pregnant, sometimes u can see little spots if u look carefully at the gravid spot, those are the eyes of the fry.
yes sasha she is it might take a lil while till she releases the baby but yes she is
my 2 females are soo but so pregnat i was staring at them a while ago and guess what i saw? guppy so little tiny bodies and eyes!!!! i could tell i saw a body becus it waz like a little really very super tiny C ! and eyes becus they were two little spots it was funny ! and so emotional too tho, see? i kno u r upset about mandy , but its kinda a gift that now ur guppie is pregnat dont you think ? good luck sash!!
Thanks for the advice everyone. I have a feeling that she is pregnant because he belly looks a bit squarish and she's the only young guppy in that tank that's fat. I took some pictures of her, so I'll post them up and see what is everyone's opinion.
Isn't it so exciting to see the little fry curled inside their mother? When some of my fish are very pregnant, I love to just watch the unborn babies with their tiny black eyes pressing against her belly. I still miss Mandy very much and, as you can see, I changed the picture under name to one of Mandy.
