Hey! Haven't been on here in a while. Anyways, I've decided to sell my 55 gallon planted tank, and I have this huge Madagascar Lace. It's giant. Last time it was out of the tank it was a good three feet long, and right now it has probably ten to fifteen leaves. Not sure what I did right, but its a pretty amazing plant. I'm only keeping my 5 gallon, so It has to go. Is it worth anything? Should I actually try and sell it or just give it away with the rest of the plants? I wish I could keep it, but its a bit cramped in my 55, much less a 5 gallon. I've seen some say they are a common, easy to keep plant and others say they are rare and impossible to keep alive, so I really don't know. Ideas?

You should definitely give it away..to me.. :p

I'm sure you could get something out of it, hopefully someone else has an idea of the price range.

I think it really depends. If you can find someone willing to pay for it then I'd say yes. The size you'd describe over here I've seen them go for around £20 if they are really are a large specimen, which is approx $30. You're getting rid of it so you might be able to advertise it somewhere including postage (or not if its someone local) but you'd need to sell it cheaper than a shop so it makes it worth while for someone to buy. I'd say about £10 or $15

Personally if I was selling the tank I'd just chuck it in as part of the deal (I'm presuming you'll price it all up as a job lot so it would be included) but if you really want to sell it separately then go for it. You're the only one who can decide if the time and effort in selling it is worth the cash you'd get, especially when you could include it in the tank.

Thanks guys! The reason I'm not selling it with the tank is because I'm completely tearing it down to sell. The media, fish and rest of the plants are going to friends, and I'm just selling the stand, lights, tank filter etc. And I really don't want to deal with finding somewhere to put it while I wait on it all to sell. There aren't really any LFS around other then Petsmart. There's a few half an hour away, but there even very tiny lace plants are $20.

Have you thought about exchanging it in one of the LFS that are half an hour away? If the plant is in good condition they might give you something in exchange for it?

I've tried with other things before. I don't have the best options with fish stores around here. The two that will take things will only accept donations. Maybe I'll just let one of my friends have it. :) thanks y'all
