Hi all,

I have only been keeping fish for a few months so I was suprised to find some fry in my tank. I now find that a high percentage of mollies are carrying young when you buy them and it's nothing to do with my ability to keep fish :)

Well, that was approx 2 months ago now and after an outbreak of whitespot I am pleased to say that I have 2 baby Mollies remaining.

They are currently in a breeding net and measure approx 1", do you guys think its safe to release into the main tank?

My concern is that after 2 months of caring for them and watching them grow that they are going to disappear in seconds as someone's dinner  There are plenty of hiding places in the tank and I'm sure that the babies are bigger than any of the other fishes mouths !

In my tanks I have: 2 dwarf gouramis
1 Molly (the mother)
2 Rainbow fish
2 Silver sharks (small)
2 Clown loaches (small)
1 Plec

The only thing i'd be wary of is the mother mollie, the gouramis and the pleco, I have my fry in there (just born today) with my 2 mollies and my gourami and they seem to be doing ok, make sure there is ALOT of hiding places in your tank, I just got about 8 bushy plants and put them all in one corner.

i think at 1" they will be fine

It they're 1 inch long, they'll be fine. Bigger than bite sized. Just keep an eye on them with a net handy as you release them if the other fish go for them. Normally I find if they survive the first 5 minutes they'll be OK when they're that size.

if there opne inch they`l be to big for anything to swallow...

i have some about 3/8" long- and they seem to be surviving pretty well. they are almost too big to be a snack for my largest fish (who's only about 2")
