Hi, I was wondering if I could trade fishes at petsmart for other fishes. Is it possible? I have a trio of fire mouth cichlid and I don’t think their not going to like to have a shallow water once I get a pair of Kinosternon scorpioides crenate.

To be honest. It depends on the shop entirely. I'd of thought Petsmart (or another chain store) would not do it whereas independant fish stores may do.

I once got a bit of a discount off a few fish as I took back some fish I had aquired from other people and I couldn't keep them. But I wouldn't expect much, maybe 20-50% off the price depending what it is.

Why not give it a go? The least they can say is no!

Our LFS gave us free algea wafers for a bunch of guppy fry, but yes it does depend on the store.

Most stores will take unwanted fish though.

Yes, just to clarify, nearly all shops will take unwanted fish for nothing in return.
