I checked out my tank today and to my astonishment i noticed that my uaru had laid some eggs, for the past few months i had thought my uaru and severum had paired up as they are always by each others sides and both attacked a pair of severums i tried to intorduce back into the tank which they were fine with before.

Basically i am just wondering if it is possible that the male sev will fertilise the eggs?

Thanks for the responce

The female uaru would not let the male Sev near the eggs and when i came down this morning to check my tanks they were gone, she must have got too stressed and eaten them, at least i now know the sex of my uaru and i can try and get a male for her

You're welcome. :)

Sorry to hear about the eggs. :( Do you intend on breeding the uaru?

Thanks Splish

Yeh i do intend on breeding my uaru now that i know she is a female, i bought 2 baby uarus last week with the intent in rearing them to sexual maturity and hopefully if they are male pair one of them with my fully adult uaru. Hopefully i can break up the bond between the female and the sev. If it does happen i will get them a 100G tank for themselves as they are one the most interesting cichlids i own. :D

thanks

Chris

Confused cichlids :p I hope one of those little Uarus is a male, Uarus are cool and breeding them must be great :D

Good luck
