On Thursday night into Friday morning, my white calico redtail dropped fry. Of the 8 I managed to find on Friday, 5 are still alive and I have high hopes for 4 of them. However, I still see eyes in her gravid spot, and although she has slimmed down, she’s not as slim as my other female who also dropped fry this weekend. She’s now hiding under my plant mat, and I believe I see the white “tube” near her anal fin. Is it possible for them to pause birth and resume it when they feel safe?

Yes, not always will they drop fry in a row. Sometimes there a few days in between. Nothing to be worried about...

Thank you Emerald! Glad to know it’s not something to be concerned about :) I better prepare the turkey baster and nets!
