Greetings and salutations, fellow fishy folk......I was just wondering if any of you who are more knowledgable on the matter than I am, know if it is ok to use water from the hot tap for the aquarium? The water boiler is just a simple electric one on the wall, an Ariston heater, model name "Titanium Plus". http://www.ariston-heater.com.sg/storage.html My water provider is Severn Trent Water in the UK. I have ordered a copper testing kit as I heard that hot water can sometimes contain more copper if the boiler/ pipes are lined with it. The lady I acquired 5 of my fish from, who I purchased my tank from, used to use water from the hot tap for water changes. I've had no problems with the health of the fish I had from her; all have lived and seem ok so far.

The PH, water hardness, nitrates, etc test the same from both water taps.

Your hot water is made instantly so it should be OK to use.
The only hot water to avoid is where the hot water is stored in a cyclinder, and as it is used the hot water is replaced with cold water from a tank in the attic. The reason it's not advisable to use this type of hot water is because the cold tank in the attic is open, and all sorts of nasty things can get in. Dead, decaying rats are not unheard of  After we had wasps nests removed ours was full of insecticide-coated dead wasps. Twice.

Thanks. This will make water changes for my beloved pet garra rufa fish easier. :)
