is it ok to put an african dwarf frog with fancy g

i just saw an african dwarf frog in the pet stor and they are the qutest things!!!
they are also in the community fish section and are really neat.
but i need to know if they will get along with my guppys or not??? :fish:

will it eat the fry?
i only wont to get one

Yes, it's quite fine to keep an African Dwarf Frog with a Guppy. Mine have at one point been housed with Guppies, and I didn't have a problem.

They will probably eat the fry, however, if they can catch them. That's the way with almost all carnivorous or omnivorous aquatic creatures.

Mine were fine together, except I ended up rehoming the frogs to their own place because I wanted ghost shrimp. The first shrimp I put in the tank with the frogs only lasted 2 days then he was killed.
With other fish their size or bigger though they should be fine. Remember too that ADFs like to have other ADFs around, so get 2 or 3 if you can.

Hey mate,

It does depend on what type of frog you get, personnaly I wouldnt get an albino one, as you will find that they grow too big and eat all the fish, that is if they are smaller than the frog, when it grows full size!

Stick to the brown ones or the black ones, they arent as much dangerous.

They are entirely different species. The large ones you're referring to are African CLAWED Frogs, while the harmless ones are African DWARF Frogs.

Are you sure you didn't have an African CLAWED Frog? I've never met an ADF that wasn't peaceful.

Well Im sure he was an African Dwarf Frog. He killed the first frog because he was trying to breed with her but Im not sure why he killed the neons and pleco.

Hmmm...that's quite unusual for him to kill the female. Mine have been breeding obsessively all spring, and, other than a few misunderstandings (2 males + 1 female equals some interesting pairings), they've been rather gentle with each other.

I can imagine him killing the neons if he were very hungry, but it's a bit of a far stretch. But killing a pleco? Yikes. Either it wasn't him, or he was one EVIL little froggie.

Fortunately, most of them are very peaceful tankmates, and will not eat anything but what they're supposed to eat, and the occasional fry.

I dont think he ate the neons because he was hungry. I feed him twice a day and he ate most of the neons food too. And he was the only one in the tank when I found the pleco dead. The pleco was missing his tail too. It wasnt a pretty sight.
