I have some fry of about 5-6 weeks old and during this past week I have lost 5 in total (in different days), who died for no apparent reason because the water stats were fine :( and I know that all of them were eating fine cause their size were almost the same as the others

is it normal that this happends at this point? or is it just bad luck???

btw, I have not seen any phisical signs that coud give me clues :dunno:

Usually some fry die...but only because they have a problem, like a genetic defect, or they were born tiny. It's a little strange yours are dying...but I've had it happen to me too. Fry are very sensitive, so something may be stressing them out, or they could have a disease.

If anymore die though...I'd start watching them very closely. Also, what's the temp, and how often do you feed them? :)

i'm really not sure, i'v had the same problem before but they were newborn-1 week old when they died, keep a close eye on them and what size is your tank and how many fry are in there?

they are on a 15 Gallons bucket, 47 babies at about 1.5-2cm, the temp is 80 F degrees

I feed them crushed flakes 3 times a day

i really dont know your bucket isnt really big enough for all of them so i think you might have a bit of bulling going around in your tank, are you sure there 1.5 - 2cm long i thought mine were about 1cm but they were actually under 0.5cm, have any more died yet or are the rest ok?

no, there havent been any more deaths, and the bucket is quite long/wide B) so they have plenty of room, they actually swim around as a group, leaving too much space around free for anyone to "runaway" of they had to, so I don't believe they were bulling them. I guess I'll never know (I hate that!!!) or maybe "guppys" is rigth :dunno:

A friend of mine had a similar problem with her Mollies. In a way we put it down to natural selection. Thw weaker ones may look the same but have problems that can't be seen. Are they inbred fry as this might have something to do with them being a bit weaker. Are they getting any light? When you say bucket what exactly do you mean?!? :dunno:
Keep us updated and at least at the moment no more seem to be dieing. Just keep an eye I guess, there's not much else you can do apart from watch the water quality and feed little and often.
Hope everything sorts itself out.

yea, it was probably beacause of that, at least the latest fry (7) have been doing great with the older fry and there has not been any more deaths :)

It all depends really, With my first batch of fry i ever had i lost about 10 in the end however after having many many more batches since i rarely loose any fry now. I think the reason that the first lot of fry died was because they overheated because of being to near the light. This is a common reason.
