Is It Algae?

Hi. I use JBL manado substrate. Recently I've noticed a bronze coloured tinge beneath the substrate level, and immediately above it I get what look like little finger print blotches which are also see through bronzey coloured. Any ideas what it is??

I've noticed something similar in my tank recently - it's quite noticable on black. I've put it down to some kind of algae. The fish don't seem bothered and I know my maintenance is up to date and I was trying to ignore it and hope it would go away!

diatoms feeding on the nitrogen gas that is release from the substrate. nothing to worry about.
