Hi,

A few of you guys might remember I am looking after a lil baby endler, called Chips. He is about 3-4 weeks old now, and has been in a breeding trap in my main tank with my Betta, Eskimo, and a cory habrosus shoal.

Today I come home to see Chips mooching about the main tank after having escaped from his breeding trap (having trouble keeping it afloat recently :S was fine at first)

To me, he looks to big for Eskimo to eat him (almost as big as the habrosus), but i dont want to have come this far with Chips to see him get eaten! He does look much faster than the betta though, and seems a very strong swimmer, easily keeping afloat etc.

Advice please! :)

Aslong as theres places for him to hide he should be fine.

Aslong as theres places for him to hide he should be fine.

Theres lots of java fern and a coconut cave (though the betta likes that!) so I am hoping he will be okay. I fed him at 12 this morning and have been away about 11 hours, so he could have been out anywhere up to that. he is swimming around past the betta too! :D

If the bettas not taking any notice he should be fine.

most of the time :shifty:
  as long as the betta is well fed, it should be ok, but a 4 weeks old fry can vary in size and some can be the size of an adult brineshrimp. i wouldnt risk it as it could be ok for a few days and then vanish

Guppy_man just wants to see him eaten

I got him back in his house :) Hopefully hell stay put this time until hes a bit bigger :)

just cause he looks to big to be swallowed in one gulp dosent mean he cant be bitten into pieces and eaten, bettas like live food and a bit of a chase,, if the betta gets bored,,,,and they are carnivors.

Not sure about endlers but i know guppies are usually big enough to not be eaten at about a month. As said it does depend on what size he actually is, and the temperament of your betta.
