Is Frozen Food 100% Safe For Fish?

I know live food like bloodworm sometimes may cause problem for fish. I thougth frozen ones should be fine, as all the bacteria etc must be dead when you freeze them. But someone told me even frozen ones can cause problem as well. Is it true??

As far as I understand it, it is completely safe.

I have never had a problem with it, and I have never heard of anyone else have a problem with it. That is assuming you buy a reputable brand.

I think it normally is but i was reading in a magazine that sometimes the frozen food is defrosted and frozen several times during transport. Not sure if this affects bacteria in the food or whether it just loses the nutrients and important stuff.

why should be a reputable brand? I thought the bateria should be killed by the low tempeature, thus even you freeze live bloodworm yourself, they should be safe as well???

Many bacteria are not killed by freezing, just put into a state similar to suspended animation. Defrost them, and off they go !

A good supplier, someone like Gamma, actually irradiates the frozen foods with gamma rays. THis leaves ABSOLUTELY no residue in the food, just kills andy micro-organisms inside.
It's the same process used to sterilize most single use medical equipment, so is a very well known and safe technique.

Some experianced discus keepers do not feed their fish frozen fresh water foods as they may contain unwanted worm/fluke eggs.

Course they can. It's why you still need to cook human food thoroughly after freezing - the bacteria can't multiply at those temperatures but they easily survive it.

On topic, I use frozen bloodworm daily and not had any issues. But I have had some dodgey live food (it looked off so I didn't risk putting it in the tank)
