Hi this is sort of a similar question to another one here but slightly different so I thought I would start a new thread.

My new tank came with a biological filter setup at the top of tank. Basically 3 sections the water filters though before returning to the tank.

I was 'told' to place the larger noodles in the first. The carbon in the second, and the smaller noodles in the third. Now I've also heard that the carbon will leach the toxins back into the water after a while, so I didn't but it in. I only am using the noodles. Is this ok? Because replacing carbon might get expensive over a period of time.???

I rarely run carbon. All my tanks do fine without it. Save your money.

Ok thanks for the advice...Yeah you dont realise how much you can spend...Even when everything is set up I nearly always buy something when I am at the fish shop....And that is a few times a week.....Maybe that is a good new thread.."how much has one spent in total on their hobby?" Maybe some people dont want to know...haha
