I think my fish, [who is yet to be named!] Might have a case of fin rot, I noticed he might have it in the pet shop but I took him home anyway instead of being stuck there. Until I can get the needed medication for him should I just keep the water incred. clean and use Bottled water instead of tap?

Thanks.

finrot is often caused by poor water quality (high levels of ammonina, nitrite, nitrate or low PH). Keeping the fish in clean water, either bottled or tap water that has been dechlorinated, will usually help clear up the problem.

I'm sure I've read somewhere on here that you Should Not use bottled water in aquariums?

I'd check even the bottled water,it can be a bit dodgy.Up in Scotland we have wonderful tap water, never scales the kettle.I went through a period of having to use bottled water for drinking/kettle in a new shop and could not believe the crud that collected on my element.I'd be inclined to stick to your tap water.
Meant to add,if you're in an area that isn't heavily air polluted, most fish seem to do well with rainwater.(Watch how you collect it though,ie,is it running off roof tiles etc?)I'm sure with the weather we have right now it wouldn't take you long to collect enough for a partial water change.

the only bottled water you want to avoid is distilled or de-ionised water. This is because they have no minerals in them and can cause the PH to drop suddenly. If you add some minerals to the water then these can be used too.
