Well my one of my new items that I ordered of Amazon arrived two days ahead of time which if fine by me!
After my DIY spraybar and intake I still wasn't happy with the flow in my 45 gallon tank. So I decided to take the plung and buy a Marineland Maxi-Jet 1200. Yup thats right the 1200.. why? because there was only a few dollar difference between the 1200 and 400 so I decided to say hey, bigger is always better right? Well after unboxing and holding it in my hands this thing is much bigger than expected.. I started to have second thoughts on getting the largest one and decided that if it was too powerful in circulation mode I could try it in powerhead mode. So i got it set up for circulation mode and stuck it in my 10 gallon that i just set up and am currently cycling. I didn't want to stick it in my main tank right away because If it was too powerful I didn't want to risk killing the fish. Well let me tell you this thing has got POWER. I had a mini cyclone in my 10 gallon tank.
So I went with the powerhead mode and out it in my 45 gallon tank. After some adjusting I think I've got it where it wont overly disturb the fish and will still get the water moving at the bottom.
So on to my question. Is this powerhead too powerfull? Should I create a closed loop system like in saltwater to help split the flow?
Well Here are some pictures..

this picture gives you a little better idea of where it is placed in the tank and it still causes a good current on the bottom with the flow directed towards the top.
