does any of you on here use caribsea eco-complete planted aquarium substrate?
wanted to know because im considering some bottom dwelling species for my tank, but wondered if it would be okay being as most bottom feeders prefer smooth or rounded substrate and this isn't the smoothest or roundest of substrates really, so does anybody use this substrate and keep bottom dwelling species? please let me know, thanks :)

I use the JBL Aqua Basis Plus, topped with the Unipac Senegal Sand and my Cory's and Kuhli's appear happy on this.

I had a quick look at this product and it appears there are mixed thoughts on it (as with most things), but generally I found others have stated it is not best suited for bottom dwellers as people with it had added sand for their Cory's.

I have been very happy with the Unipac stuff and the black is good looking too, as it is not pure black, but has other slight variations making it glisten.  I maybe adding this to the back of my tank with the Senegal at the front - yet to decide.

Yes mate. I use the eco-complete mix. I have a BN and a bunch of cory's that come out in the late afternoon. They all look pretty healthy. Recently, my friend has been taking the cory's for his tank though because my serpae tetras have been picking on them

My plants look great too, I do keep the substrate topped up with nutrients though, but pushing a couple of randomly placed substrate tablets (usually ones by Seachem) in there ever 3 or 4 months.

brilliant! thanks for the replies :) ahh poor corys :/ my plants are doing better than they ever have now im using this substrate, along with liquid co2 dosing as well :) im really pleased with how my tank is going now. good idea I might have to invest in some substrate tablets too.
