I have a structured juwel background and use a fluval 405 in my Juwel Trigon 350, the outtake pipe is fine and straight, but the intake pipe is sticking out, and it irritates me like hell :hyper:

How can i get it straight? could I weigh it down with something, I dont really want to stick a rock over it incase it blocks it. What can I do?

You could probibly bin the Fluval and install a better, more reliable, exturnal, though that mebe wasn't the option you had in mind :shifty:

Do you not have a hose clip and suction cup to pin it to the side pain in a postion that is less "in the way"?

All the best

We connected ours to a piece of flexible hosing awhich made it easier for keeping straight.

Could you put it on the side instead of the back? Then you could use the suction cup that came with it.

Wow, that was a fantastically helpful and appropriate comment, especially when the same issue would be had with any other brand... -_-

We connected ours to a piece of flexible hosing awhich made it easier for keeping straight.
If it must be at the back, this would be the easiest option. Could also use a knife to make a hole in the background, and put he suction cup or one of those zoomed magnets in the hole, attached to the intake stem.

You're right, it isn't just a problem with Fluval, we have the same with our Rena filter too.
We've put ours just in front of the background and it sticks to the side of the tank. Quite like your idea three-fingers!

Cutting the background and installing a clip behind it will be difficult if it is already glued on as it should be  It's a great idea, but possible not a viable one for an established tank with a glued on structured background. Granted you would have this issue with many filters, so perhapse my initial comment wasn't entirely helpful...

Would pushing a bit of wire through the background, and bending it behind to hold it in place, be an alternative option?

All the best
