we bought 2 irridescent sharks only 1 week ago, and they arent eating..
we have talked to the LFS that we bought them from, and we are feeding them the exact same flakes they were fed at the LFS. hmph.
we have tried... brine shrimp, shrimp pellets, flakes, other pellets.. its not like they dont have a lack of options. whats goin on with these clowns? (they aren't the brightest,, all they do is chase they're reflection) :/

Pangasius catfish are very nervous and dont like change, it may take a few weeks for them to start eating properly.
I trust you know what you have let yourself in for? This is a fish that is going to grow HUGE!! To keep two of them for the duration of their lives you are going to need a 500 gallon tank minimum. Why these fish are even available in lfs i dont know, these along with red tailed catfish, tiger shovel noses, red snakeheads and just about every other fish that grows over 2 foot should be left for large public display tanks :(

HUGE IF YOU CALL 4 HALF FOOT HUGE

cfc the more i read about these CATFISH i get worried people seem to be buying them every where

whyyyy these things are hugeee and need a swimming pool just to be happy
the can become very depressed cant they without enough room
isnt there no laws on this means sum child could go buy them stick them in a 1 ft tank and nothing woul dhappen to the place that sold it ?

yes, i found out what i was in for after purchasing the fish. its something im not happy on, ....i had full trust in my LFS, and was mis-informed., and not properly informed on the habits and growth of this type of fish. I'm a newbie, and This is why i'm here on this site, getting help. (help!!)

(help!!)
can you not return the fish to the store ? even if they refund you or not may be the best thing then your not responsable for what happens when its 4ft long :sly:

sorry no i didnt mean dont worry aboiut them of course do

i dont know what they eat i can try and find out for you
but what im saying on return them now is why keep somthing that really in MOHO
shouldnt be there just because they are 4 inch or so they must be active and like to swim ALOT and well unless you got a huge tank ie 100 gallon you dont have much room for them

just my opinion (I HAVE RECENTLY FALLEN OUT WITH MY BROTHER and we no longer speak after i found out he has 2 bala sharks in a 1half ft tank

they are 1half ft in length when fully gorwn i said he said yea but they wont go to that i said why

reply they will grow to the size of the tank (my point exactly your stunting there growth stopping them from growing the way they should nd not alone swim

what i ment about returning them any ways ?
and not worrying when its 4ft long

just beacuse its pretty or you love it isnt a good enough reason surly ?
the animals care is more important

This is a very interesting fish that can be spooked quite easily. Don't tap on the glass or startle the fish as it is likely to injure itself in its' mindless flight. They get rather large too

These fish get up to 39 inches (100 cm). (Yes, over 3 feet long!)
Since they are omnivorous these fish will generally eat all kinds of live fresh and flake foods. To keep a good balance give them a high quality flake food or pellet everyday. Feed brine shrimp (either live or frozen) or blood worms. Apparently they are like Pacus and become more and more vegetarian as they get older.
