Hello,
I have recently just started an aquarium with the following characteristics:
29 gallons
Emperor 400 Biowheel Filter
Whisper 30 Filter
79 Degrees Farenheit
7.9-8.0 pH
6.5 Pounds of Live Rock
3 Pounds of Antique Coral
The tank has the following fish:
2 Blue Damsel
3 Green Chromis
2 False Clownfish (A.Ocellaris)
If you haven't guessed already, I bought these fish to start the cycle for my aquarium. Everything is going very well. However, I am concerned for one of the blue damsels. This one blue damsel appears to be hyperventilating, and remains in one corner (the front right corner) of the aquarium. He basically just flaps his fins just enough to stay put in that exact location. He does not interact with any of the other fish, and will only respond when other fish (very rarely) get very close to him, whereupon he returns to his original location. There are no signs of disease or injury to the fish (including ich). He turned a very dark shade of blue (nearly black) when he was caught in the store, and from my understanding they do that when they're stressed. He has since returned to his normal blue color. He has been in the same position for about the last four hours. Do you have any ideas/suggestions? Thank you.
