Iponds

Any idiot can tell fish are sensitive to noise. All you have to do is clap your hands near a fish tank and the poor things run terrified.

How could this possibly have passed product safety/testing type thing? For people who have seen them, who is the real manufacturer, if its not Apple? I think we should definitely send complaints to the manufacturer. I may link this thread in the Tropical Chat to draw some attention...

Many fish aren't as sensitive to sound as you might think. It's more of an acclimation situation than anything else.

Try this breeder's trick; before you feed your fish, tap on the glass a few times. In a week or two when you tap on the glass they will come flying to the front of the tank. Shops that buy these fish from breeders who do this sell more fish. Kids, and even adults tap on tanks, the fish rush forward, it increases sales for the shop, which increases sales for the breeder.

ok, but you gotta agree these things are cruel, treating the fish as a kinda toy/novelty accessorie for an ipod

Yup, classical conditioning

This is the stupidest/cruelest/most uncaring thing I've seen since I saw that 12" oscar in a 14" tank.
