unfortunatly on christmas day my female blue ram died which is still a bit of a mystery but everyone else was fine. my male seemed to be lonely after but then started eating again and now is happy. today i got him a potential mate, she is a bit smaller than him but seems quite brave. he is now showing off his colours and his fins and taking it upon himself to show everyone in the tank whos boss. he isnt attacking anyone but is definatly showing off. she doesnt seem too scared off him but isnt following him round the tank. he seems interested in her but i cant tell if its aggression. what should i look out for? how long does it usually take before you can tell if they are going to get along or not? any tips of helping them get along?

thanx

well today everything has changed, the male is calm again and seems happy, he is following round the female who in turn follows him, there is no chasing or nipping and they are both feeding together. i'd say its a success so far! i dont mind if they dont breed i just want them both to be happy :) i am suprised though, he has turned out to be a pretty big ram and shes still tiny almost half his size, but that doesnt seem to matter. its very interesting how fish recognise their own type, he knew straight away yesterday what she was and immediatly showed interest
