Fish Crazy
So my girlfriend gave me a few clippings of her anacharis, to be specific, I think it's the African Pond weed? That, or the Canadian Pond weed. I've had previous experience with anacharis in the past when I first set up my planted 15 gallon. I noticed that anacharis can actively move, bend and sway sometimes. Most notably when I dosed ferts.
This anacharis on the other hand, is much more interesting in my opinion. The pond weed I have has one or two roots extending off of it and these roots are no ordinary roots. Last night, I was experimenting with it, and noticed that the roots will bend and cling to surfaces like driftwood and other plants when the chance is available. I would hold it over the driftwood and plants, let it go and watch the roots eventually catch itself on a surface and pull the plant down to settle in a location. I found this very intriguing! I did this multiple times with different clippings and every time they were able to do this! I love how quickly the roots take action to do this. I'm just going to let the clippings grow out and fill my 55 with it. I had no idea a plant was capable of responding so quickly. The roots it seems, tighten up to pull the plant down.
Every time I seem to doubt nature, she always seems to surprise me.
