Interpet N0.8 Anti Fungus + Finrot...

water stats fine... have increased the ouflow on filter (therefore increasing aeration)... why do I need to reduce the temp?...

Thought you was using the med for columnaris, always best to turn temp down 2 degrees.

Fungus and Finrot (what it sounds to be) is not columnaris (what it doesn't sound to be).
In this case I can't see any advantage for lowering or altering the temperature.

You shouldn't do a water change unless medication specifies that.
You can add venturi for extra aeration if you think the oxygen is low.

... just looked in tank: dead Tetra... tested water stats again: Am:0, Ni:0, Na:<20... temp is 78... filter outflow increased... all fish, apart from Corys, now at surface and looking agitated... Corys are more frequently up to the surface too...

...I don't get it... and there are suddenly quite a few baby ramshorns snails that I'd not noticed before - all on the glass, near or at the waterline...

... seems like there's a lack of oxygen in the tank... or a poison?!... that's why I thought a water change?...

Well if they are gasping low 02 in the tank, or they can't tolerate the med, did you add the correct dose.

ok, if things are really not looking great (by the sounds of it) do a 20% water change. Some more delicate fish (or weakend by disease or poor water) don't respond well to full dose medication.
Put a new carbon pad in for a few hours and medicate again - but only at 50 - 75%. The call is yours.

Are all the fish gasping or just a few, as once the gills are affected by columnaris they can rapid breath.

Also if the corys are coming up to the top of the tank alot it definately sounds like 02 problem as it bad down at the bottom of a tank for them with the med in and low 02.

So could the lack of oxygen be due to the added Med?... How does that work?.. I can't think of anything else...

Yes as meds reduce 02 in the water, do you have an airstone.

You don't have any snails in the tank do you, as some meds are toxic to them, plus if a decaying snail is in there they can become toxic to the fish.

I had about 8-10 small trumpet snails suddenly appear on the glass, when i dosed with this stuff.
Some of the fish seemed to keep to the higher areas of the tank too.
Assuming this was a sign of lack of oxygen, i angled the internal filter so it made more bubbles/ripples.
I think I was too late for the suspect fish, but all the others are now back to normal (about 3 days after dose)

... have increased filter outlet water flow... doesn't seem to be making any difference... all I can think of is to remove the Interpet Med - via carbon filter insert...
