Just got some of the above to treat my fish... the instructions say 'mix with tap water' before adding... Do I need to add a dechlorinator to this water before mixing the product?... or is there already a water treatment/dechlorinator in the med. itself?...

Just add a drop to be on the safe side :) You're only going to use a few ml of water anyway to mix it with the meds - before poring it into the (hospital) tank.

...not according to the instructions:)

'10ml of meds treat 11 Gallons of water'... therefore my 20gallon will need 18ml of meds...

even though the product is in liquid form, it says 'must be fully dissolved by pouring in warm tap water before being evenly distributed over the aquarium surface'... it gives the instruction '1 pint of water will dissolve 20ml of meds'...

so, as I understand it... I need to mix just under a pint of warm tap water with 18ml of meds to treat my 20G (I don't have another tank to separate the ill fish and thought it is prob. a good idea to med the whole community)...

... which is why I asked about adding dechlorinator/water improver to this 'new' pint of liquid that I'm going to add...

Ah ok :) well dechlorinator for a pint is generally still no more than a drop (depending on your brand of dechlorinator).
Stress coat for example uses 1ml per 2 gallon :)

I dont know if its wrong or not but whenever ive used meds that say mix with water before adding, ive used tank water then put it back in. -_-

I was clearly in "weekend non-thinking-mode"

id just say as well that when using that med make sure your oxygenation is turned up ive read quite a few instances when peoples fish seemed to be up the top of their tank gulping looking o2 starved shortly after they added No 8 med.

we had a nasty experience with the stuff a few years ago - it zonked out our tiger barbs completely, they were asleep for 4 days, we thought we'd killed them but after 4 days they started waking up for a few mins before going back to sleep ( nose down out cold!!!!) we had done loads of little water changes after noticing what had happened in a panic & there was definitely nothing wrong with our water params at the time either. none of the other fish in our tank were affected at the time although we didnt have our loaches then.
i did a bit of research on the ingredient that is actually used in interpet fungus & finrot med & it used to be used a a fish anaesthetic so it was pretty obvious what had happened to our barbs so id just be careful with the stuff
saying that it did cure the bad case of finrot that one of the barbs had but gave us a bit of a scare( all the barbs survived their big snooze with seemingly no ill effects!!!)

Oh bugga, I dosed with this stuff at the weekend. Today the suspect fish was hidden in a corner, not moving, suspecting the worst i removed him from the tank, no signs of life at all, and disposed of the body. Now I read he could just have been asleep. Bah.

... good point millym... I noticed most of my Glowlights at the waters surface this morning (2 days after adding this Interpet product... they've been fine up until this morning)... didn't have time to check it out then... was worried but after reading this, will have a look when home tonight... if they're still at the surface, i'll presume it is the lack of oxygen... i'll increase the flow from my fluval 2 plus outlet...

I dosed mine yesterday and i just added it to warm tap water. I believe it says that 1 pint of warm tap water would do 20ml of med.

I must say, since doing it my fish do seem to have survived the night... whereas as soon as i have seen a fish with it, they dont last more than a few hours before they die.

ok, just got home and looked in tank... all Glowlights are now at the surface for 'air'... as well as the Endlers... the Dwarf Gouramis seem ok (maybe they're a bit more 'robust')... the Corys are coming to the surface for air more often than usual too... so it does seem this particular Med 'extracts' oxygen...

... should I do a 20% (or more) water change now? (even though the med has only been in the tank for 3 days)...

... after the water change, should I place the carbon pad in my fluval 2+ filter to remove any remaining meds? How long should the carbon pad be left in there for?... or will adding the carbon pad now, remove the meds that should still be in the tank treating the fish?...

...should I temporarily attach (the up until now, unused) 'venturi' valve to increase surface agitation/oxygen/bubbles?...

Check water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, have you increased aeration, plus did you turn the temp down abit.
