:D sorry i haven't been around posting much but been kinda busy with my college and work that i haven't much time to post anything.

one problem i seem to be having and reoccurs is Internal worms in my Platies its gets very frustraighting when i condition them up for breeding, have a batch of fry and then lose weight pretty quickly and then just die!!!

So far i have a coral red female platie and a sunset female that have gone emicated in a short space of time. Sunset female had a batch of fry 4-6 weeks ago and is looking increasingly stressed and thin.

Any ideas of how to treat Internal worms???

Do they have long stringy white poo, is the anus red and inflamed, can you see any worms prutruding from the anus, internal parasites are very common in livebearers.

hey wilder, long time no see!!!! Sunset platy has stringy white poo!!!! anus isn't inflammed or red in any way. Its one of my favourite fishies too.. i know this is tough one to eliminate but i thought maybe someone had a few ideas.

the red one just hangs in the corner of the tank but they both still eat.

i've check water parametres they r 0mg ammonia, 0mg nitrite and 5-10mg nitrate ph in 1 tank 7.4 and ph in other tank 6.5

Ok thanks wilder!!! i will try using sterazin but have done before without much luck...I may have to destroy them so that they don't suffer.

I no it's awful, i had to strip the whole tank down and start again.

How come you did that??? I'm moving next year down south and wont be able to take my fish with me, as i think it be far too stressful on them sat in bags for 7 hours and then with different water etc. So i properly start to thin down my fish soon.

Once i'm settled down south i've decided to go for a 6ftx2ftx2ft think thats what a.i.m said i just go for with a nice sandy bottom and have some nice corydoras possible Pandas. I would like to breed Bristlenose Plecs but i've kept one before

To get rid of the parasites out of the tank, new tank sounds fab i bet you can't wait.

No not really when i get an idea in my head it takes me ages to push it to the back of my head. Don't want to get rid off my fishies as some i've had ages especially my corydoras family

My pitbull plec had these worms.
Camallanus are red worms that can be seen protruding from the anus of the fish, especially after eating and when the fish is at rest. From what I’ve seen, livebearers and Gourami seem to be the most susceptible to it. It is very difficult to treat and multiplies using an invertebrate as a host. Destroy infected fish and medicate to (hopefully) kill hosts and larvae. (or you can tear down your tank, sterilize your equipment, and start over). If you leave exposed fish in the tank, wait a few months before adding new fish.

I also get white stringy poop problems with my livebearers once in a while. Sometimes I think I beat it, then it comes back with a vengeance. One of my meds is by Ocean Free, it smells a lot like formalin but ingredients aren't listed, so I don't really know. What about metronidazole? (or is that effective only particularly for hexa) Surely there is medication in the country somewhere...?

I bought some Jungle Tank Buddies Internal/External parasite medication and some antiparasite food for continued medication and treating new stock by mail order from the US. I got some spare, do you want to buy a course of treatment off me? I could get it in first class post tomorrow if you want, you should have it by Friday. Let me know.

I also have Maracyn 1, Maracyn 2 and Maroxy if anyone's stuck.
