Can anyone in the UK recommend me a decent cure for internal parasites (I'm assuming nematodes), please.

My cherry barb will be very grateful.

I'm US based, of course, so I can't help you with that... but wanted to wish your barb well.  Sorry TLM.

Cheers, mate. :good:

Metronidazole. It is a prescription drug in UK, but I know Seachem do it for fish. Check Amazon or Ebay for it.

Hmmm, thanks both of you.

Sterazin says it's unsafe for crustaceans, so my RCS would be in danger. Apparently, in those circumstances, they recommend Paragon, which is just a general tonic. They also do Octozin, which is safe for crustaceans but is described as a protozoacide, so unsure it would effectively treat the nematodes.

Anyone know if Seachem Metronidazole is safe for crustaceans?

What about quarantine for the fish and treat them separately from the main tank?

Or quarantine the shrimp (not as easy, I suppose) and treat the main tank?

Only problem with parasites is the others will probably have it too.
When I treated my Cherries with Sterazin I was lucky it was easy to remove my Bamboo Shrimp..
I've heard half dose can be used with few fatalities?
MBOU is the one who advised me..

I thought that's probably what I would do, the half-dose thing. Removing the cherry shrimp is not easy - I am still finding odd shrimp in the other tank, I moved the bulk of them in September, I would never find them all. I must have 50+ shrimp in there at various ages.

Adorable :3
Love Cherries!
Unfortunately finding a parasite killer that doesn't kill crustaceans is near impossible, as something along the lines of the parasites being crustaceans or related to each other and are both weak to certain parts of the meds.. IDK! :p I make it up as I go along aha.

The gist of what you are saying is spot on. Just trying to find somewhere locally that stocks Sterazin. Your lot don't seem to do it, neither does my very local MA. Will pop in to my closest indie LFS tomorrow morning.

Not seen it over here, no.

Which is why I suggested quarantining 'THEM'. ;)
