Hi

Usually a internal filter like the one stated is not a good idea for freshly hatched youngsters but i think i am right in saying the live bred (mouth bred) ones are slightly bigger in which case in a breeding tank or even a main tank is the internal not a problem with cichlids. I have a Fluvall 4+ i could use.

Any thoughts?

The Fluval 4+ I use in my tang setup even on the lowest setting would be abit much in my opinion - if you do go ahead make sure you've got a spray bar and I've heard people recommend putting tights over the filter inlet.

I'm no expert though, hopefully someone will get back to you soon with a bit more experience than me - I've never tried to put fry in that tank.

i got a large fish net and cut it up and siliconed a bit of it over each intake, works well and no chance of my platy fry or molly fry being sucked up. you could always use a sponge filter!!!??
